New York, NY – It takes ample amounts of courage to confront bullying head-on, especially on a public platform such as Twitter. But Ari Lennox took action earlier this month after she and Teyana Taylor were targeted for their looks, admitting being labeled a “Rottweiler” was hurtful.
“You wanna talk about how people are so sensitive they want us to cancel freedom of speech,” she said in part. “Why is this your speech? Why are you so comfortable tearing down black women?”
Rather than see that as a sign of strength, the always outspoken Joe Budden decided to label Lennox “insecure” during a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast.
“Does anything about the Ari Lennox thing scream insecurity to you?” he said. “Insecurity. How you feel about you versus how what people feel about you versus how what people feel about you does to how you feel about you. Insecurity. And while there may be variations of it or different reasons of why it stems, insecurity is insecurity.”
Budden’s comments weren’t well received. Twitter instantly pounced on the Slaughterhouse vet and called his assessment of the situation “disgusting.”
Check out some of the reactions below.
Joe Budden and his podcast co-hosts were so out of their depth talking about the Ari Lennox situation. Twitter doesn’t even have enough characters to go through all of the ways in which they were loud and wrong. pic.twitter.com/2PIbGCfoAx

This is just too much, how can Joe Budden make a comment about Ari Lennox must feel insecure by responding to the comment. The troll needed to be informed, this occurs when/in our demographic too often. Stop equating everyone issues to ours. https://t.co/vevkN1T8tU

Joe Budden and crew reduced Ari Lennox's points on the "rottweiler" comments to insecurity and a rant. Those words were used at least twice verbatim.
I knew these man were unintelligent but it's actually enough.
(Its my own fault for listening, I KNOW fok)

You can always count on ignorant black men to not only fail to defend us but also belittle us when we defend ourselves. Gross.

Two black men in the room and the white guy was the one to sorta halfway understand, break down, and not totally dismiss the Ari Lennox situation. Joe Budden and Mal be on some other shit sometimes.

I enjoy the Joe Budden podcast but the Ari Lennox and Rottweiler comment and her reaction went completely over their heads. They missed the whole reason why she is upset.

@AriLennox Just finished listening to your live and listening to the Joe Budden Podcast commentary on it and I am livid. I love and support you and hate that your message about uplifting and empowering black women got minimized and trivialized.

Not rollin with Joe Budden's take on how Ari Lennox replied in a wrong way…we as black men have got to start doing a better job defending and protecting our black women….
