Nicki Minaj shocked her loyal legion of fans on Thursday (September 5) when she announced she’s retiring from music to start her family.

After the Barbz lit up her mentions trying to understand how their Queen could make such a hasty exit, Black Barbie admitted it may have been a bit too sudden. She also promised she would break it all down in a future episode of Queen Radio.

“I’m still right here,” she tweeted on Thursday night. “Still madly in love with you guys & you know that. In hindsight, this should’ve been a Queen Radio discussion & it will be. I promise u guys will be happy. No guests, just us talking about everything. The tweet was abrupt & insensitive, I apologize babe.”

According to TMZ, the future Mrs. Petty is nowhere near ready to retire. Sources close to Nicki reportedly said the platinum-selling artist has been hard at work in the studio recently and has made plans to record with several artists just this week.

The source adds Nicki still has studio time booked.

So why the retirement announcement? Nicki is allegedly tired of internet trolls who accuse her of not writing her own songs, question about her Hip Hop legacy and her relationship with fiancé Kenneth Petty.
