“Truth Hurts” comes from Lizzo’s debut album Cuz I Love You, which dropped in April. HipHopDX, which gave the album a 4.2, pointed out “she’s mastered the art of self-empowerment and finally embraced her pipes of steel.”

Propelled by the infectious “Juice” single, the project hit the Billboard 200 chart at No. 6 and currently sits in the No. 5 spot 19 weeks later.

Lizzo performed “Truth Hurts” at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards last Monday (August 26).
