HipHopDX Premiere

Former educator and now nerdcore MC Mega Ran has traveled the world, headlining gigs in the United Kingdom, France and Tokyo. His catalog overflows with raps about video games and comic books. In fact, his output has made him a Guinness World Record holder for the most songs about a particular game.

Mega Ran is the first rapper to be licensed by a major gaming studio (Capcom) and continues to break records and ceilings worldwide, but not none of this would be possible without his foundation in Philadelphia.

In his new video for “Home,” Mega Ran is filmed during a “whirlwind trip” through his hometown.

The song is taken from a special mixtape called Beyond The Stars, which uses sampling from the über popular K-Pop group BTS.

“I had a blast shooting the video,” Mega Ran tells HipHopDX. “I went to every Philly landmark, some I hadn’t seen since I was a kid on field trips. It felt good to see all of the beauty in a town with so much history.”

“I travel a bunch and when I do get home, it’s almost like a vacation, just doing nothing. I love it. BTS’ movement is all about positivity and self-love, which I’m all about. Through listening to their music I’ve been inspired to keep going on tough days. And their melodies are super catchy. Never thought I’d say it, but I’m totally in the army.”

Mega Ran is currently — yep! — about to hit the road once again.
