Lyricist Lounge alumni Shabaam Sahdeeq and producer J57 are currently putting the finishing touches on their brand new collaborative LP. In anticipation, the duo decided to release a loose single as a “warning shot,” to let people know what to expect.

“Razor Sharp Vernacular,” produced by J57, features verses from DMV spitter Born Unique as well as TriState of Durag Dynasty — a trio that also includes Killer Ben and Planet Asia.

As Shabaam told HipHopDX in a recent interview, his relationship with J57 goes back a few years.

“Me and J57 met at the Fat Beats flagship store … we always stayed cool. I went to events there frequently and did business with Fat Beats on some independent records that I put out over the years,” he explained.

“We finally got to work together on a song called ‘GMR,’ which I put out as a one-off single … it did very well.”

The single blossomed into an EP, and eventually became a full-length LP dropping soon — featuring Planet Asia, Casual, Nems, Rim, TriState, El Da Sensei, J Hood, DV Alias Kryst, Born Unique, Recognize Ali and more.
