HipHopDX Premiere

After an almost five-year hiatus, Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Matt “M-Eighty” Markoff has reemerged from his behind-the-scenes role as an A&R/Executive Producer to grip the mic for the Toledo EP. The project boasts features from a roster of local Toledo artists M-Eighty has been building with for years.

Ahead of its release, the always colorful M-Eighty has dropped a taste of the project titled “Done Done It,” which features local battle rap icons Fif Element and Ghiftd. Produced by Vherbal, the bold track finds M-80 firing on all cylinders as he swaps verses with his Toledo brethren.

“After 2013’s Almighty” The 2nd Coming, I had taken on far greater responsibilities as an A&R and Executive for a myriad of legendary artists that literally commanded every ounce of my free time,” he tells HipHopDX. “The business side of music coupled with my move to Los Angeles and the want to be the greatest me I could be behind the scenes definitely resulted in my time away from the mic and all the requisite time that comes with pushing a product effectively.

“2019 has been more of a development year for my clients, including writing for new albums, touring and exploring additional podcast, endorsement and live media options. So, I’m proud I found some time now to at least bring another A+ effort home for my hometown’s namesake and hopefully spark the drive to get cracking on Almighty 3 and other M-Eighty artist projects.”

The former Guinness World Records holder for longest freestyle has worked with likes of Ghostface Killah, KXNG Crooked, E-40, Kurupt, Killah Priest, Hus Kingpin, Planet Asia, Benny The Butcher and dozens more.
