In what has become a disturbing trend in the entertainment world, another artist has been accused of sexual assault. This time, Chicago-based rapper Towkio — real name Preston Oshita — is facing allegations he sexually assaulted a woman he had a relationship with in 2016, something he adamantly denies.
On Sunday (January 6), Twitter user @pppermint shared a string of detailed tweets, beginning with a photo of Oshita.
“February 2016, I was raped, by Preston Oshita aka Towkio,” she wrote. “He invited me to his apartment in Wicker Park, I showed up and I had absolutely no intention on sleeping with him. I had a yeast infection and I knew that if I had engaged in intercourse it would be excruciatingly painful for me.
“I arrived to Preston’s apartment and he coerced me into having sex with him. He stressed that his two roommates were gone and that we could be as ‘loud as we wanted.’ I said no, at least, five times. It got to the point where he stood up and literally was pulling my arms to lead me into his bedroom. I figured if I had sex with him, he’d stop pressuring me.”

The woman explained she tried to convince Oshita to get off of her, but he refused.
“I said to him, ‘Preston, can we please stop? It’s starting to really hurt’ … and he replied ‘No, I didn’t cum yet,'” she added. “As he continued to penetrate me, I was paralyzed with fear, thinking, ‘wow, I’m being raped right now.'”
Oshita issued a statement via Twitter denying the allegations on Sunday night and insists their sexual relationship was consensual.
“I am deeply saddened by the recent allegations made by Morgan,” he wrote. “To provide necessary context, she and I had were in an on going consensual relationship dating back to 2014 which even included other women. I only say this to provide context and in no way victim shame.

“It is of utmost importance to me that she and the entire world know with 100% and my hand to God, I would never engage in sexual intercourse with any woman without full consent.”
While emphatically denying the accusations, he noted that he hopes to have a dialogue with the woman to alleviate any pain she’s still feeling from their relationship.
In October 2017, The Gaslamp Killer was accused of sexual assault in a similar manner. A woman sent out a series of tweets accusing the Low End Theory co-founder and Run The Jewels tourmate of rape.
Consequently, GLK was quickly cut from several scheduled festival appearances and Low End Theory ultimately severed ties with him completely, seemingly bringing his blossoming career to a halt. Although a judge ultimately green-lit a defamation suit, the damage was already done.

For now, it’s unclear if Oshita’s accuser is taking legal action, however she does mention her “testimony” in her final tweet.
HipHopDX reached out to both parties but didn’t hear immediately back.
