As DMX tours the US in support of his Great Depression album, which was released on Tuesday, he has hit a major roadblock in his home turf.
DMX, a native of Yonkers, NY, an uptown suburb of New York City, was denied by NYC officials in his request to hold a free outdoor concert for his fans. City officials are citing “security reasons,” according to a Def Jam spokesperson. While this may not be great news, it is at least understandable given the present circumstances in New York.
X’s 18-city tour is called Hoodstock and features the rapper playing free shows for radio contest winners in cities around the US. He has been on tour since October 12. DMX didn’t fully disappoint his fans in the Big Apple though, as he stopped in to a Harlem HMV record store to sign autographs instead of playing the free show.
