U2’s Bono has put together an all-star cast to remake Marvin Gaye’s classic What’s Going On.
The proceeds from the project will be split between the United Way’s September 11 Fund and the Global AIDS Alliance. The EP will feature nine versions of Gaye’s song, including one hip-hop mix produced by the Neptunes, and called the This One’s For You Mix. It will feature LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, Mobb Deep, Royce Da 5.9, Noreaga, Da Brat, Sonja Blade, Angie Martinez, and Fabolous.
Jermaine Dupri will produce an Original All-Star remake, featuring Mary J. Blige, Eve, Destiny’s Child, Ja Rule, Nas, Nelly, Alicia Keys, JLO, P Diddy and others from the pop world. He will also produce an R & B mix that will see ?uestlove playing drums and Wyclef on guitar. The EP is set to hit stores October 30.
