NY, NY

Wearing a pair of oversized glasses, multiple gold chains and an open red jacket, Tory Lanez sat down with Hot 97 at the New York City radio station’s annual Summer Jam to discuss a bevy of topics, including his now-diffused beef with Drake and recent decision to drop $35,000 at a store where he said a clerk mistreated him. He seems to think the sweats he was wearing might have given the sales clerk the wrong impression.

“We were going to the store to spend $35K regardless,” Lanez said. “We were going to shop. At the end of the day, I like to get fly, I love to dress — I don’t have a stylist, I dress myself … so when we walked in the store, the dude looked at us and he just kinda turned around ’cause I was in sweats … just had the bag on me, that’s all.

“It wasn’t that we spent money to get at him,” he added. “The fact of the matter was we gave the store credit to somebody else, you know what I’m sayin’? So the $35K went to somebody else.”

The Toronto rapper also chimed in on his recent reconciliation with Drake, who he’s had beef with for the past few years. Drake’s “Summer Sixteen” track and Lanez’s The New Toronto 2 mixtape both featured subtle jabs aimed at one another.

“It’s about music at this point,” he said. “[There’s a] couple other things around it, but that was between me and him. I think for it to happen the way it happened, it was meant to happen that way. For whatever the reasons around it were, you know, was between me and him.”

Late last month, the two apparently squashed it over a phone call, according to TMZ, and both Lanez and Champagne Papi shared a photo of themselves together on Instagram.
