Pusha T dropped King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Preludeback in December 2015, an album HipHopDX contributor Kellen Miller said has “once again positioned Pusha as an MC with the ability to put forth a legendary piece of work. Here now, the clock ticks until King Push.”

Although the official King Push album was supposed to surface several months later, it seems Pusha’s current position as president of G.O.O.D. Music has kept him busy. In a recent interview with Complex, Pusha claimed it’s close to being done.

“I’m going to say it’s about 85 percent done,” Pusha said. “That’s a confident 85 percent. That’s a strong 85 percent. Great lyrics, great beats. Beats are phenomenal. It’s wrap time.”

When asked about the sound, Pusha said, “It’s mostly Kanye West … great super producer beats.”

During the interview, he also spoke about his current run of social activism from his work in last year’s election to starting a college fund.

“I’d like to say that it started with Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper program,” he explained. “Everything going on with the election, we took an L with that. Since then, we don’t have a connection to the administration anymore. So I’ve been thinking for a while, what is there to do? The only thing I could think of is being a little bit more self-governing.”
