At the age of 39, Paul Pierce called time on a glittering NBA career two weeks ago after the Utah Jazz defeated his LA Clippers in Game 7 of the playoffs.
Pierce spent most of his career with the Boston Celtics, but ended his time on the court with the LA Clippers from his native California.
That being said, it only makes sense that the Clippers recruited one of California’s other proudest sons to help them out with the tribute video to Pierce. The team dropped a video to Pierce on Twitter, narrated by Kendrick Lamar. K. Dot spoke about the effect Pierce had on his own city by “putting all of Los Angeles on his back.”
“When people talk about LA, most mention the beautiful weather, the celebrities, the glitz and the glamor, you know, Hollywood,” Kendrick says. “But there’s a part of town where you can find the grit, the fortitude, the truth.

“Inglewood’s own accomplished what many others never did before him. Not only did Paul Pierce represent Inglewood, he put all of Los Angeles on his back.”
The clip calls fans to acheive greatness on and off the court.
“Life is not all about the wins and losses, it’s also about how you affect people,” Compton’s good kid adds.
Kendrick signs off by saying “Paul Pierce, you are The Truth,” using the nickname given to Pierce by Shaquille O’Neal.
