Snoop Dogg has been recording so many new tracks for his upcoming Blue Carpet Treatment album that he is now facing the task of whittling down 300 tracks to fit onto one CD.

Snoop is currently selecting his favorites from the extensive list, and will choose around 16 tracks to make the final cut, reports Billboard.
“I’ve been working on [the album] for nine months,” he said. “I have so much good material, it’s about [figuring out] what I’m going to use on my record.”

The Long Beach rapper is set to drop his new release on October 17, 2006, and the list of potential features includes Stevie Wonder, The Game, R. Kelly, Brandy and Daz & Kurupt.

While Snoop has been recording some tracks with Dr Dre, there has been no news as yet as to whether any of these will make it onto Blue Carpet Treatment. However, producers The Neptunes, Timbaland and Rick Rock are all on the list of beat makers contributing to the LP.

Showcasing some tracks to media in New York on Monday, the lead single has been revealed as the Neptunes’-produced Vato, (Spanish for ‘homie’), featuring B. Real of Cypress Hill. The song addresses the more serious issue of conflict between Blacks and Latinos in certain parts of California.

To tie in with the album release, Snoop plans to drop the DVD, The Adventures of The Blue Carpet Treatment in November. The DVD will feature 10 animated videos for songs on the album, and the Doggfather plans to leak a few of these onto the Internet in due course.
