Azealia Banks is currently on trial facing assault and harassment charges for a 2015 incident at New York’s Up&Down nightclub where she allegedly bit the breast of bouncer Christine Soares after being removed from the club.
Prosecutors in the case being tried in Manhattan Criminal Court want to use the Harlem MC’s controversial past against her, including a 2009 domestic dispute involving her sister, according to the New York Daily News.
“This is a case where she slashed her sister in the neck, the arm and the hand with a box cutter,” said Assistant DA Shea Donato.
Because of her age at the time, Banks got special treatment despite pleading guilty to attempted assault.

Donato also wants to use another 2015 incident involving Banks attacking a nightclub bouncer in Los Angeles, though charges were eventually dismissed, and another altercation with actor Russell Crowe.
With jury selection taking place this coming Wednesday, Donato could use Banks’ history to hit her credibility if Judge Ann Scherzer allows it. Banks is expected to testify in her own defense for the case.
It’s been about a year since Banks dropped her Slay Z mixtape and she’s more recently released a new track “Crown” last month.
