Members of the animal rights group PETA
trapped Beyoncé Knowles earlier last
week by posing as fans who won an eBay
auction for dinner with the star, then bombarding her with questions about animal
cruelty, and her use of fur on the red carpet, as well as her new House of Dereon clothing line.
Knowles believed she’d be dining at Manhattan’s hotspot
restaurant Nobu with the winning
bidders of an auction for VH1’sSave the Music Foundation. She even
brought along her House of Dereon
partner (and mother), Tina Knowles,
for the occasion.

Instead of casual dinner conversation and jibber-jabber with a pair of
overzealous fans, Knowles was ambushed with an onslaught of animal cruelty
accusations in a video-recorded incident available for viewing at TMZ.com (http://tmz.com/search/?q=beyonce)
“Beyoncé, many of your fans would like to
know why you don’t care about how minks, foxes and chinchillas are gassed,
strangled and electrocuted for vanity and if you might have it in your heart to
recognize that fur is not only cheap and tacky but also horribly cruel,”
the PETA rep pleads to the
singer.
At first, both Beyoncé and her
mom play it cool, trying to assure everyone that they have visited the farms
that provide the fur for their clothing line, and know that the animals aren’t
treated inhumanely. However, after another woman pulls out a DVD player to
play a tape with graphic footage of animals being slaughtered for fur (narrated
by anti-fur activist Pamela Anderson),
Tina Knowles demands that the women
be escorted out by security.

And the drama doesn’t end there, folks….
Apparently, Beyoncé’s
manager/father (Matthew Knowles) is
furious with TMZ posting the video on their site and has tried numerous
harassment techniques to force the site to take down the video. TMZ reps
responded: “…we will not take this video
down. First of all, we didn’t shoot it. Second, it’s a legit
story. We do not sanitize news or present only what is acceptable to
celebs and their relatives. We won’t be strong-armed by bullies and
threats. “
Un-biased journalism at its best. Amen to that.
