Following the recent police shootings, comedian Rickey Smiley invited a handful of musicians, including Jeezy and David Banner, to take part in the “Real Strategy For Change” town hall meeting in Atlanta, this week.

Given the serious nature of the topics discussed, tempers flared at one point during the discussion as David Banner and Lyfe Jennings engaged in a heated back and forth over citizens arming themselves against police.

“You sound crazy. What we going through is crazy, but we ain’t gonna create more by telling these people to bring guns against the police. That’s stupid,” Jennings said in response to Banner’s comments.

Following Jennings’ critique of Banner’s suggestions, singer Tyrese stood between the two men and encouraged everyone to “calm down.”

“What y’all not gonna do is stand up while my daughter [is up here]. That ain’t happening. Everybody sit down and calm down,” Tyrese said.

Both Banner and Jennings reportedly hugged it out following their back and forth.

Following the town hall, Banner took to Twitter to remind people that “men are suppose to have a difference of opinion.” The Mississippi lyricist also criticized Atlanta’s WSBTV for their coverage of the event.

Also in attendance during the town hall meeting was Dr. Bernice King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King stressed the importance of unity, according to The Boombox.

“We have got to find a way to get on one accord in our approach,” Dr. Bernice King said.
