The Reverend Gesner Jean died Monday night after being crushed against the door of his garage by a Bentley owned by his son Wyclef Jean. The car was reportedly unoccupied at the time and the incident seems to have just been a tragic accident.
Gesner Jean was the head of the Newark Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene in South Orange, New Jersey. He was a leading member of the Haitian community in the New York area, and was even rumoured to have disappeared for a brief time in August.
Jean was also the father of Fugee Wyclef Jean and R & B singer Melky Sedeck. The Reverend is survived by his sons, his wife Yolande and his daughter Rose.
