It was only a matter of time until a superstar like Busta Rhymes started his own label. It seems to be the way to go, as Busta follows in the footsteps of Dr. Dre, Jay Z, Master P and others.
Busta’s new label will be called Flipmode Records, named after his crew the Flipmode Squad. Busta has high hopes for the label, which has yet to announce any artist repertoire. Busta Rhymes himself is currently locked into a deal with J Records, after he was dropped from Elektra last year, after his Anarchy did not do as well as the label hoped.
Busta’s new LP The Genesis is set to drop on November 13. It will be his J Records debut and will feature Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige and Jill Scott.
