Foxy Brown has broken her silence and revealed that she hasn’t been able to hear properly for six months.
Brown revealed the news a couple days ago on BET’s 106 & Park – the first time the Def Jam rapstress has spoken out publicly about her hearing loss.
During the emotional speech, Brown stated that she suffered the sudden hearing loss during the recording of her album ‘Black Roses’.
“In May 2005, my life was altered drastically. During my recording of ‘Black Roses’, I experienced a sudden hearing loss,” she said, breaking into tears. Ms. Brown admitted that she had not heard any other voice for months, and has spent many nights “crying in isolation and silence”. She has, however, spoken to God, asking the question, “Why Me?”

No specific reasons are given for the loss of hearing in both of the rapper’s ears, but her doctor, Laura Arias, did say that Foxy is expected to undergo surgery in January; a procedure which has been performed on patients in the past with the same condition.
If all goes well, Arias says Foxy will regain her hearing, but the healing process differs in length from patient to patient.
Many people were in attendance at the press conference to give Brown their support, including Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons, model Tyson Beckford, Doug E. Fresh, her new attorney Joseph Fleming, Reverend Young Blood, Cathy Jordan Sharpton, and her mother and two brothers.
According to Doug E. Fresh, Foxy first noticed the hearing deterioration when she was in the studio with Jay-Z; the Def Jam President wanted to know why all the levels were so high, but Foxy felt that the levels were all fine.
