Grammy hunter John Legend will go out with a fan – as long as she doesn’t think he’s too great. GORGEOUS soul singer John Legend is a massive hit in the charts – but he has yet to find himself a proper girlfriend.

The 26-year-old, who has just been nominated for eight Grammy Awards, reveals he’s “young, free and single” and looking for love. And he would even consider falling for a fan – as long as she doesn’t put him on a pedestal.

“It’s off-putting when someone idolizes me,” he muses. “It wouldn’t be the best in a relationship – the power dynamic would be all wrong.”

With his dark Caribbean looks and sparkling personality, it might seem that John could get any woman he wants. But apparently not, because he’s very choosy when it comes to his leading ladies. John, in London filming Record of the Year, tells us: “I’m single and looking for love. I’m having fun – I’m 26, so that’s too young to settle down. My longest relationship was seven months. It is partly because of the business and partly because of my personality. I’m picky and I like to move around. The fact I’m a touring musician is perfect for me because I get bored easily.”

So what exactly would it take to catch his roving eye?

“My ideal woman has to be smart, confident, sexy – which is about your attitude and how you look and carry yourself. She has to be a good person.“Eventually I’m going to want to get married and have children, so I have to be with someone I feel good about raising my kids.”.

“Hopefully, anyone I date likes my music, so if that qualifies as a fan then yeah, I would date a fan,”John went on. “But there has to be an equity between us. They need to be successful in their own field and confident and they can’t look up to me too much.“It’s a nice change for women to approach me. You spend your whole life chasing women and now it’s nice that the tables are turned.”

Talking about tables turning, his mentor Kanye West once played support to John at a gig in New York before he hit the big time. John told us: “What many people don’t know is Kanye supported me at a New York club called SOB’s in 2002, before he was famous. I had a nice fan base in New York, so I could sell out a club but nobody knew who Kanye was. He was cool. It was a funny night.”

”Now both of us have been nominated for eight Grammies. It’s amazing. When I found out I called Kanye straight away. I’m happy for him and he’s happy for me. The cool thing is we aren’t against each other in any group.”

But if this Legend ends up with a hatful of awards that would be pretty daunting for any adoring fan with “equity” in mind.
