Co-founder of the Crips Gang, Stanley ‘Tookie’ Williams, may have his life spared if California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger agrees to overturn his death sentence.
So far, Schwarzenegger has agreed to a meeting with the inmate’s lawyers, and said that he will consider sparing Williams’ life.
This all comes in the wake of last week’s rally, which saw Snoop Dogg join thousands in front of the San Quentin Prison to show their support and ask for clemency for Williams.
The now infamous Crip co-founder is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection December 13.

“The Governor reviewed the material in the case this week and he decided the best route is a private clemency hearing, so he can hear directly from counsel,” stated Schwarzenegger’s press secretary, Margita Thompson.
It is believed that the Governor chose to hold a closed session in order to keep celebrities like Snoop, Jamie Foxx and the Reverend Jesse Jackson from meddling with the process by pleading Williams’ innocence.
Stanley ‘Tookie’ Williams was sentenced to death in 1981 for killing four people in two robberies. His supporters argue that Williams has become an inspiration to troubled young men, and that his children’s books have helped deter kids from gang banging.
More media attention was brought to the Williams case with the release of the award-winning television biopic, Redemption: The Stan ‘Tookie’ Williams Story, starring Jamie Foxx.

Several other rallies are due to be held around the state of California in the next few weeks, including a documentary film screening hosted by actor Danny Glover. A round-the-clock vigil outside San Quentin prison is also planned to start from December 4 until the execution date, when protestors across the country are expected to demonstrate.
In related news, Snoop Dogg has just completed filming for his new Dogg Pound Gang video, Real Soon, which is dedicated to Williams. The video for the new single features fellow D.P.G. members: Nate Dogg, Kurrupt and Daz Dillinger, and sees Snoop wear a ‘Save Tookie.Org’ T-shirt.
