Shabaam Sahdeeq released his Modern Artillery EP October 13.

The Brooklyn emcee recorded most of the seven-track project while in Amsterdam on tour in 2012, according to a press release. The EP includes features from Outerspace, Ruste Juxx, Reef the Lost Cauze, Torae, 8thw1, and the late P.H. Pumpkinhead was a battle rapper who worked with Talib Kweli, Skyzoo and others. He died in June.

Sahdeeq enlists Amsterdam’s Big Ape and Sweden’s DJ Devastate for production.

“I realized I was using my art as a weapon,” Sahdeeq says of the recording process. He says his music is comparable to a “.40 cal, no doubt.”

“What differs Shabaam from other emcees is his work ethic, and that he’s constantly pushing himself,” Big Ape says. “Maybe there will be a Navy Seal power nap somewhere in the middle, but then he keeps going and going.”

Modern Artillery was released through Elite Fleet Records is available for purchase on iTunes.
