Hip-hop’s most popular singing gangster has joined the ranks of the rap stars with records. Nate Dogg pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of an unmarked weapon. The charge was originally going to be possession of a firearm by a felon, but Nate Dogg plea-bargained it down.
The incident that stemmed the charges happened last summer. Nate Dogg is said to have kidnapped his girlfriend and then set her mother’s vehicle on fire. When he was arrested, the cops found a gun in his possession. Kidnapping charges were never laid because his girlfriend would not cooperate with the police.
Nate Dogg was sentenced to three years’ probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.
With the conviction, Nate Dogg becomes the latest in a long line of hip-hoppers who will be held up at the Canadian border because of their records.
