California Hip Hop quartet OverDoz has made a name for themselves over the last few years, particularly via their outlandish visuals and unique sound.
The group recently spoke with HipHopDX’s Ural Garrett at Block Party Los Angeles after their performance about their forthcoming work and a recent recording session with Pharrell Williams.
“It was real easy man,” Kent said when asked about recording with the super producer. “We’ve been all dreaming for that day so the actual process of us writing a song came in like 10 minutes. We were writing our verse in 10 minutes and recording in like 30 minutes so it was just super natural. We chilled with him for about 2-3 hours before he even touched the keyboard. That stood out to us more as new artists. For somebody to do that that stood out more than even making a song.”
The group also spoke about meeting Pharrell, an occurance that some of the members couldn’t believe happened, initially.

“He Facetimed us [when we were doing a] show in AZ,” Joon described. “[The other members of the group] had left earlier than me. I get on the phone and it’s Pharrell. He like, ‘Yo, yo, this P, what up?’ I’m like, ‘Who?’ ‘This Pharrell.’ We just started talking about our music. I called these niggas like, ‘Pharrell just called me man. He trying to do some shit.’ He said [pointing at Kent] ‘Shut the fuck up,’ and hung up on me.”
OverDoz is currently working on their upcoming album, 2008. No release date for the project is yet publicly known.
