Feuds and conflicts have been associated with Hip Hop for decades.

In a new interview with VladTV, the Godfather of Hip Hop, Afrika Bambaataa, shares his thoughts on the divisive matter.

“I think there’s something wrong in the industry of people thinking that you must attack each other to be in Hip Hop,” Bambaataa says. “Just do the music and put it out there, there’s room for everybody.”

Bambaataa also comments on the lack of diversity on radio, which he believes should be more “balanced.”

“It comes back to those program directors, if you’re going to play a record that’s calling a woman a ‘b’ or using the ‘n’ word or talking about kill, kill, kill, then you need to play a record that’s telling you about fight the power, ‘Dear Mama’ and all that type of things, this way there’s a balance, the balance of Maat in Hip Hop,” Bambaataa says.
