With their debut full-length served up late last month, producer collective Future Brown gave fans of Chicago upstart Tink some more fodder with a pair of tracks on which she features.
Speaking with HipHopDX’s Andre Grant about recording with Tink, a protege of producer Timbaland, the group recalled the experience of watching her write and record for the album’s lead track.
“To me it just sounded like the most R&B instrumental on the entire record,” group member Fatima Al Qadari said of the song “302.” “Clearly this was for someone who was gonna write it that way. Tink [wrote and] recorded all the vocals for the track in two hours, like finished.”
“She actually didn’t need to redo any take, everything was like her first take, even her ad-libs,” J-Cush added. “She just nailed it…That was her first studio session outside of her basement in Calumet City [near] Chicago. To see her work like that we’d been wondering, ‘How long had she been making tracks to be that talented and so gifted to just like flow?'”
