John Starks, a retired NBA player who once played for the New York Knicks, recently denied a rumor that Biggie’s “I Got A Story To Tell” is about him during an interview with ESPN’s Highly Questionable.

In the song, which was an album cut off 1997’s Life After DeathBiggie has sex with a woman before robbing her husband who plays for the New York Knicks.

“It wasn’t about me,” Starks says. “First and foremost, I’m not even 6’5”. I’m 6’2” actually, so it couldn’t have been about me.”

Starks adds that he knows who the song is about.

“I know who it was about, but I’m not going to say,” he adds. “I can’t tell you. I just want to get it clear that it wasn’t about me.”

In the interview, Starks also says he doesn’t know if the story is true and that he never had an encounter with The Notorious B.I.G.

“God rest his soul,” Starks adds regarding Biggie. “But I never met him.”
