L.L. Cool J has signed on the remake the 1975-blaxploitation flick, Dolemite. L.L. will play Dolemite as a nightclub owner, who ends up in prison when a rival plants drugs in his nightclub. When he is released from prison, he finds his rival doing the dealing out of his old club. In L.L.’s version, he will have 3 female bodyguards to help him in his effort to rid the town of the drug dealers.
Four studios competed for the rights to remake the Dolemite movie and Dimension won those rights. Rudy Ray Moore, the original Dolemite will make an appearance in the remake.
In other L.L. news, he will deliver the Keynote address at the Grammy Urban Music Symposium & Showcase, being held as part of the fourth annual Atlantis Music Conference, being held August 2nd in Atlanta.
