Rihanna posted #FreePalestine on Twitter, a post she deleted eight minutes later. Through a source, Rihanna also says didn’t mean to make the Twitter update, according to a source who spoke with TMZ.
“She deleted it because it was never meant to be tweeted,” the source says. “She didn’t even realize it was a tweet until she started hearing from her fans.”
The source says Rihanna was reading stories regarding conflict in the Middle East. She says she clicked a link and began receiving messages from fans asking why she is pro-Palestine.
TMZ acknowledges that the “explanation is obviously curious.” The site says: “In order to tweet, someone would either have to type the message or cut and paste it, and then click the ‘Tweet’ button.”

The source says Rihanna is neutral regarding Israel and Palestine. “She is pro-peace,” the source says. “She doesn’t want innocent people dying.”
There has been conflict between Israel and Palestine for years, conflict that has escalated this month due to the killing of three Israeli teens and a Palestinian teenager, according to CNN, which reports that “neither side is backing down” from the fighting. “Since Monday [July 14], scores of people in Gaza have been killed,” CNN reports.
