Mya was asked on Instagram if she had an 11-year affair with Jay Z.
“Never did, never was, never will,” Mya wrote in response to user kimdafuture, according to E. “Illegitimate, thirsty sources with no facts and that’s the ‘media’ for you-especially today. I play second to no one, pay my own bills, have my own label, own management company, rely on God only and respect myself & marriage too much for nonsense.”
The comments from Mya, who collaborated with Jay Z in 2000 on “Best of Me Part 2,” come on the heels of a Beyonce performance of “Resentment” Saturday (June 28) in Ohio in which the singer switched the lyrics of her B’day track, sparking speculation that she was referencing infidelity on the part of husband Jay Z.
The song references a six-year relationship. Performing the song in a white wedding dress on Saturday, Beyonce changed the lyrics to reportedly correspond with the amount of time her and Jay Z have been together.

“I know she was attractive, but I was here first,” she sang. “Been riding with you for 12 years / Why did I deserve to be treated this way by you?”
The Daily News reports that the original lyric didn’t apply to Beyonce’s then four-year relationship with Jay Z upon its release in 2006. Using their 2002 hit “Bonnie & Clyde” as a reference point, the couple’s relationship appears to have started around that time.
Yesterday, Beyonce posted a photo on her website of herself with Jay Z and their daughter, Blue Ivy, visiting an art exhibit in Brooklyn.
Mya’s Instagram response is as follows, as is the “Best of Me Part 2” video:
