The arrogant, self-centered and vain side of Kanye West took a backseat to the seldom seen gracious section that lies in his heart. Kanye’s frustrations for being blanked at the American Music Awards came full circle in the press room following the ceremony as he griped and complained to reporters that he was robbed that evening. He even went as far to say that he may not come back to the AMA’s ever again. But a calm more gentle side of the brash rapper/producer apologized for “acting a fool” that night.
After being sent with a grand total of zero out of his three nominations, Kanye threw a tantrum backstage but in retrospect at the Billboard awards Kanye said of the goose egg “You get the most nominations, and then you don’t get to say anything – the combination of that frustration might send someone over the ledge.”
In a statement backstage at the Billboard awards Kanye said “One of the things I wanted to say is how much I appreciated the opportunity to be at the AMAs and to get to hear John Mayer perform and Maroon 5 do their new single and to get to see Fantasia… I can’t blame the way I acted on just being a new artist, because I was raised better than that. It was very ignorant, and a lot of that Chi-Town, street mentality came out of me.”
