Jay Z’s former business associate Dame Dash has served as the latest figure in the entertainment industry to share their thoughts on an altercation that took place between Jay Z and his sister-in-law Solange Knowles inside a hotel elevator.

Dame says he mostly found the encounter between the two in-laws entertaining and encouraged Jay Z to take a lighthearted approached to the incident.

“I was laughing,” he said. “That shit was funny. I mean, I wouldn’t have handled it like that. But I just thought it was funny cause Jay is the kind of guy that you don’t see him moving like that that much. And when he does move if it’s not like that cool looking then it’s going to be kicks. And also, I feel like nobody teases Jay except me…I don’t think he should be mad about it. I think he should just be laughing. That shit was funny. Everybody fights.”

During his conversation with Hip Hop Motivation, Dame also brought attention to the fact that the Brooklyn lyricist has to “worry about perception” when it concerns incidents like the one involving Solange, due to his ties to the corporate community.

The Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder later recalled receiving treatment similar to what Jay Z has recently dealt with, after news of his financial woes began to go public.

“Jay has to worry about perception because corporately people pay him,” Dame said. “So, he really has to play that game. So, I thought what was ironic about it was people got to see how he plays shit off. And how something crazy can happen and then four seconds later when it’s cameras on and they act like nothing’s going on. I thought that was interesting…But then it’s just kind of exposing it. Like how do you trust anything moving forward…I think if he cares then he’s probably embarrassed. If he doesn’t care he should be enjoying it. Me, I wouldn’t care. And I know how it feels to get bombed on in the newspaper. Them niggas bombed on me for five years straight. I just laughed at it.”

Earlier this month, TMZ released video footage, which showed Solange physically attacking Jay Z in an elevator at the Standard Hotel following their appearance at the Met Gala.

And most recently, it was reported that Solange may possibly release a tell-all book about her family and the relationship between Jay Z and Beyoncé in particular.
