While speaking on the origins of the title of her upcoming album, The Pink Print, Queens rapper Nicki Minaj revealed that the title of the LP stems from Jay Z and his sixth studio album, The Blueprint. In addition to doting on what she referred to as the “Blueprint brand,” she referred to both Jay Z and Young Money helmsman Lil Wayne as her favorite rappers.

Minaj also spoke briefly on her obsession with the Brooklyn wordsmith during her interview with Los Angeles radio station Power 106.

“I think everybody knows how obsessed I am with Jay Z,” she said. “He’s always been my favorite rapper — him and Wayne. He did such a great job of creating this Blueprint brand for male rappers, I felt. And I studied a lot of his blueprint, just in terms of becoming a mogul.”

Although The Pink Print is due out later this year, Nicki Minaj revealed that she’s in no rush to announce a release date for the album, her third studio LP.

“Nowadays, in this era, people want things so quickly,” said Minaj, according to MTV. “We don’t even absorb anything. We’re never in the moment, ever. We’re always in the future. So, I don’t want them to think about the release date. I want them thinking about the music. ‘Pills n Potions’ just came out — let’s talk about that.”

Earlier this year, Nicki Minaj confirmed that her third studio album would in fact be titled The Pink Print. The reveal was made as part of the release of the rapstress’ “Lookin Ass Nigga” music video, which featured a caption announcing the title of Minaj’s upcoming album.

In addition to appearing on Power 106 this week, Nicki Minaj also released her first The Pink Print single, “Pills N Potions.” While on the red carpet during the Billboard Music Awards, the Young Money lyricist revealed that the song “sounds like urgency” before speaking further on the single.

“It sounds like urgency,” she said. “It sounds like betrayal. It sounds like running. It sounds like fainting. It sounds like love. It sounds like, ‘Aah.’”
