With new movies in the works and an album in the making, Ice Cube is showing no signs of slowing down. Cube’s latest project will bring an animated hip-hop cartoon to the FOX network. The show titled “Grandmaster Freak & the Furious 15” will focus on a hip-hop crew in the 1980’s from Englewood, New Jersey. The show will follow the large old school rap crew and their leader 17-year-old leader “Grandmaster Freak”. Old school rap songs by will be used during the program as well as musical performances during the show.
“We really want to capitalize on the early stages and the innocence of hip-hop. It was a new medium for all of these guys who didn’t know anything about the music industry”, Matt Alvarez, a producer for the show says. “Ice Cube will likely provide a voice for the show but not that of Grandmaster Freak”. This is the first television show project for Ice Cube’s company Cubevision, the same company that has brought us “Barbershop” and “All About the Benjamin’s”.
