DJ Mustard, who worked on YG’s My Krazy Life, recently said that making the album was an enjoyable experience.

“It’s like working with one of your cousins, or your brother or some shit like that,” DJ Mustard says in an interview with XXL. “We was just having fun, man. And with working with your cousin, it’s not like working with someone you don’t know. With a dude you wouldn’t know, like, I probably couldn’t tell you, ‘Yo, the song you just did was horrible,’ because you’d probably take it a certain way. But if I was your cousin, you’d probably be like, ‘Hey, look, shit’s wack. What are you gonna do?’ ‘Cause I’m already your cousin, see what I’m saying? So it’s shit like that. We’re like family. I feel like we came together with a classic album.”

When asked what “classic” he would equate the album with, Mustard spoke about another West Coast album.

“Like [Dr. Dre’s] The Chronic, really,” Mustard says of the album which earned a 3 out of 5 in its HipHopDX review. “For sure. It’s like our generation of The Chronic, you know what I’m saying? This is Snoop [Dogg] and [Dr.] Dre all over again.”

This isn’t the first time Mustard has compared his work to others. In 2013, Mustard spoke about how he hopes to be seen during a HipHopDX exclusive.

“I want to be my own DJ like Fatman Scoop and Lil Jon all in one…going on tours and rocking crowds by myself,” Mustard said. “It’s not on the EDM side. It’s my own thing. It’s some Hip Hop shit, because we don’t have no DJs like that. I don’t know why nobody’s doing it. I ain’t got right yet, but once I start, it’s gonna turn some shit up and everyone’s gonna start doing it.”
