Although her estate is still pushing forward with a lawsuit against Outkast, BMG Music and Arista Records, Rosa Parks’s doctors have said that she cannot be forced to answer any questions. The doctor says the 91-year-old Parks suffers from dementia and cannot answer any of the questions that Outkast’s lawyers have requested she answer. Joel Steinberg wrote a letter to the judge handling the case stating Ms. Parks “cannot testify or participate in any court proceeding” and added six pages of medical records to support his reasoning.

Her lawyer Gregory Reed said Ms. Parks has been poor health during the summer, but filed a separate lawsuit against Outkast BMG, Arista, Barnes & Nobles and Border Group Inc. for selling the album that features Outkast’s song “Rosa Parks”. The new lawsuit says Outkast has earned more than $100 million in record sales from several albums that included the song “Rosa Parks”. “They exploited her good name without her permission”, Gregory Reed said.
