Legendary rap group Public Enemy will be releasing a new album in the fall, and they want you to contribute to it.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, PE’s frontman Chuck D said that his site slamjamz.com is beginning to post the lyrical tracks to PE songs without beats. He is inviting aspiring producers to download the acapellas, put beats on them, and upload them back onto slamjamz.com. “We want to hear everything from electronica to metal, slack-key to Brazilian jazz, even bluegrass and country,” the release stated.
Not to worry producers, this is PE we’re talking about, and you will be paid. The producer and Chuck’s label, also called Slamjamz.com, will retain co-ownership of the music and royalties will be paid.
PE is also planning a fall release for a DVD of the band in concert at the House of Blues in Los Angeles.
