After poor attendance this year, Paramount’s Kings Dominion and BET (Black Entertainment Television) has put and end to their annual College Hip-hop fest. Normally drawing thousands of college students from up and down the east coast, this year saw a record low amount of students attending according to Allhiphop. “We are disappointed but unfortunately, the number of students participating has declined to the point where it doesn’t make sense for us to host it”, Richard Zimmerman, EVP of Kings Dominion said.

Though in the past two years it had been marked by shootings, this year there was an increase in security with more police officers and students getting checked for valid student ids. “The relationship with our sister Viacom company Paramount’s Kings Dominion has been a mutually successful one, and we’re grateful for all of the hard work and dedication shown over the years”, Debra Lee, President of BET said. During the seven year even BET and Kings Dominion raised over $250,000 for black colleges and $50,000 for BET’s HIV/AIDS awareness program.
