With a new public relations company and a new image, Lil Kim stood before the press and said “My name is Kimberly, ‘Lil’ Kim,’ and I am innocent. For far too long I have stood silently as the world’s media has indicted me for a crime which I did not commit”. Lil Kim held a press conference in New York to speak out about what she believes is a “Witch Hunt” against her.

With her lawyer Mel Sachs by her side, Kimberly Jones spoke out publicly about her upcoming trial on obstruction of justice and perjury charges for a shooting that took place outside of HOT97 in 2001 for the first time since she was indicted. “This case is part of the government’s continued indictment against hip-hop and the hip-hop industry,” she said. “My innocence will soon be proved. To my fans, friends and loved ones, I want to say thank you. Thank you for believing in me and believing in my innocence. Throughout my life and throughout my career, I’ve been a survivor. I am completely innocent of the charges I have been accused of, and am very confident that my co-defendants and I will win this case in the courtroom. This case is a witch hunt against the hip-hop industry”.

Lil Kim also announced her creation of Lil Kim Cares, a new organization to help battered women, runaways and homeless people. On the music side she is back in the studio working on her new album with her boyfriend/producer Scott Storch and plans to show a new side her musically. “Look for versatility,” she said. “Look for rock, look for R&B, look for hip-hop, look for inspirational points; that’s what this industry needs”. Lil Kim’s trial begins February 28, 2005.
