Going from a big winner in last weeks BET Awards to being controversial in Britain is a big step only Outkast can make. One of Outkast’s poster’s is being called “irresponsible” by Britain’s Advertising Authority (ASA) because it shows a smoking gun held in Andre 3000’s hand. The ASA says the ad could be portrayed as the group supporting gun use. Their record company BMG said they believed the ad showed no more violence than some of today’s newest movies.

“We regret the ruling because Outkast are the last group that we believe you could level those charges against. It’s a play, it’s a spoof. They’ re very dramatic , flamboyant group and they’re famous the world over for being the least gangster-posturing hip-hop group ever”, Paul Bursche, BMG’s Director of Press said. BMG said they believe their ad was not a problem because this is the first complaint they have received concerning advertising since the multi-platinum “Speakerboxx/The Love Below album was released.
