Ja Rule’s fourth of July didn’t get started off on the right foot after an early morning arrest on Thursday July 2nd. Police officers pulled Ja Rule also known as Jeffrey Atkins over at 2:19am because his car was swerving in and out of different lanes without signaling any changes on Sixth Avenue in New York according to MTV. When the authorities stopped him they discovered that his license had been suspended and he had a small amount of marijuana on him.

Later that day Ja Rule appeared before Judge Shondia Simpson who ordered him to pay $550 dollars in court costs and fines. The fifth degree marijuana possession was later dropped. During his court hearing prosecutors stated Ja Rule had an open warrant against him from 1996 for resisting arrest. Ja Rule is set to release a new album next month titled “R.U.L.E” and costar in the new film “Assault of Precinet 13” with Laurence Fishburne and “Shall We Dance with Jennifer Lopez.
