Nicki Minaj, who is no longer a judge on the television program “American Idol,” is now reportedly focusing on music.

“It was such a great experience,” Minaj said of her time on “American Idol” during an interview with eonline.com. “I would not trade it for the world. But my heart is in my music and I had to step back and go have different experiences so that I could write my third album…That’s the most important thing in my life right now.”

Minaj’s time on “American Idol” was not without controversy. It was reported that the singer/rapper/actress threatened fellow judge Mariah Carey

In November 2012, Minaj addressed concerns with long days associated with being on the television program.

“They’re very long days,” Minaj said. “I’m not really used to having to show up somewhere at a specific time. I kinda been my own boss for a few years, so this is like adding discipline back in my life. This is adding that strict regime of having to do something. Everybody’s affected by what I do.”

In May 2013, Minaj also addressed the strain in her relationship with her then fellow “American Idol” judge Mariah Carey.

“Imagine someone that you loved your whole life, imagine you meeting them and then all of the sudden feeling like you did something horrible to them, but you just don’t know what you did,” Minaj said. “That’s what my relationship with Mariah is and that’s what it’s been from the beginning. I just really thought that we were friends.”

“When I got on set the first day, I was so nervous,” Minaj said of her experience on The Other Woman. “Cameron Diaz walks in the room and I’m like, ‘Kill me. Is this really happening?’ She lights up the room and all I could think of is what if I do something and she things that I suck, what is she going to say? Is she going to demand that I be kicked off the movie? I was just thinking crazy stuff…She came up me in the middle of the day and was like, ‘You’re doing such a great job.’ That melted me…And that pushed me. She was like, ‘You’re making really great choices.'”

Nicki Minaj’s next album is slated to follow Minaj’s 2012 albums Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded The Re-Up and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.
