Teaching college students things you can’t learn in books, Scion and Rebel Organization, Inc. have joined together for the hip-hop film screenings tour. The screenings tour titled ROUTE will hit twenty campuses between April and May showcasing the four elements of hip-hop: the MC, graffiti artist, b-boy and the DJ in four different independent films. The films that will be showcased are Dithers, Style Wars, The Freshest Kids Wild Style features such hip-hop pioneers as Grandmaster Flash and Grand Master Caz discussing the birth of Hip-Hop.
The Freshest Kids shows over two hours of b-boy break dancing spanning the last 25 years in hip-hop also featuring KRS-One and Mos Def. Style Wars goes in-depth on the urban landscape filled with graffiti artists who express their individual style. Graffiti artists featured are Dondi, Zephyr, Crash and Kase, plus as well as the Rock Steady Crew. Dithers is a documentary that shows how urban culture effected music today.
