Escaping a jury trial and a possible jail time, Busta Rhymes cuts a last minute deal. Accused of threatening and shoving a Celine Giguere, a fan who attended his 2002 show at Jake’s Twin Saloons, Busta Rhymes also known as Trevor Smith left the courthouse maintaining his smile.“Buy my new album. See my new movie”, Busta said to the crowd as he left the Fall River District Court.
Previously on probation for a 1999 gun charge in New York, Busta told the court he did grab the overly zealous fan but did not threaten to kill her as Giguere alleged “I grabbed her hand and told her, `please make sure you don’t touch me again,” Busta Rhymes said. Because Busta admitted information about the incident he will be cleared on all counts of assault and battery within the next six months if he doesn’t have any more brushes with the law. Giguere also has a civil suit against Busta for a reported one million dollars but lowered the amount down to $150,000 before the negotiations between both came to a stand still.
Assault charges are also pending against Giguere. “People in the music business are prey,” Busta Rhymes attorney Robert Kalina said. “And that’s what this case is all about.”
