Wu-Tang Clan mastermind RZA is chilling up in his Manhattan, New York, studio, recharging his techno alter ego, Bobby Digital. The rapper/production guru tentatively plans to release his second Bobby Digital album, RZA as Bobby Digital – Digital Bullet, on July 3. He recently inked a deal with Koch Records’ hip-hop imprint, In the Paint, for the project.
The disc follows 1999’s RZA as Bobby Digital in Stereo, which served as the soundtrack to “Bobby Digital,” his film about experimental self-transformation. It was unclear whether the new album is also tied to a film. RZA has described Bobby Digital as a hip-hop superhero with a brain like a computer. All of the other members of Wu-Tang Clan, except for the incarcerated Ol’ Dirty Bastard, have solo albums on the way. The New York rap crew released its third album, The W, in November.
