Def Jam has a new chairman of the board. Antonio “LA” Reid is now the new chairman of the Island of Def Jam Music Group. Beginning February 12th, Reid will take the position that was formerly held by Lyor Cohen who now heads up Warner Music Group. Long standing president of Def Jam Records Kevin Liles, has also resigned from his position with the company due to negotiations problems.
Redman is back in the studio working on the follow-up album to his 2001 release “Malpractice”. Along with making new tracks for his album and mixtapes, Redman is also going in front of the camera with fellow friend and rapper Method Man in several new movie projects. One song that you can catch burning up mixtapes is his song “I C Dead People”.
On Friday February 6th, Eminem’s ex-wife Kim Mathers was sentence to jail for violating her probation. Last month Kim was sentenced to two years of probation after she was pulled over and arrested for driving without a license and cocaine possession. According to MTV, on Friday Kim admitted to her probation officer that she had used cocaine which came out when her routine drug screen tested positive. Her lasted violation could keep her jail for a maximum of five years.
