With his movie “Barbershop 2: Back in Business” number one at the box office with 25 million in sales in its first weekend, Ice Cube is more than capable of proving that hip-hop has no boundaries. Ice Cube is ready to focus his energy back on music as he heads back into the studio to work on his new solo album. After releasing a new Westside Connection album “Terrorist Threats”, late last year with W.C and Mack 10, Ice Cube is more than ready to focus on writing a project that fits him.

“It’s gonna be whatever it develops into,” Ice Cube told MTV. “We just started considering it. I’m gonna turn off everything, both videos and music, feel my inner thoughts and start writing a record”. Although he is not currently signed to Dr. Dre’s label Aftermath Records, there is a possibility he may not join his fellow N.W.A member. “We haven’t been able to come up with the right deal with Aftermath. Sometimes the hardest part of making these records, when you’ve got two superstars, is coming up with a deal everyone agrees on. So until we do, I’m considered a free agent”.

Ice Cube is also getting prepared to star in the sequel to “XXX” that was originally played by Vin Diesel. “They’re doing a new ‘XXX’ concept every time,” he said. “It’s cool. I’m glad to get in on the second rather than the fifth one. We’re still working on the script. I want to tailor-make the part for me. I don’t want to do what Vin did, ya know? Our movie should stand alone like his.
