After releasing their last album “Don’t Sweat the Technique” in 1992, I bet you never thought you would see Eric B. & Rakim together again! Unfortunately the reason they are together may not only hurt some people’s feelings but their pockets as well. Eric B. & Rakim are suing Russell Simmons, Lyor Cohen, Def Jam Records, Universal Music Enterprises and many others alleging they were never received complete compensation for their classic album “Paid In Full” which was released in 1987. Eric B. & Rakim allege they were misrepresented by their former managers (Cohen & Simmons).

They also believe that Island Records had been illegally distributing the album for additional sales. In 1998 a special “platinum edition” version of “Paid in Full” was released and a two-disc “deluxe edition” with bonus remixes were released 2003. In the lawsuit, the duo are requesting the accounting books to be open and damages to be awarded on the sale of the album as well as the singles “Eric B. For President” and “My Melody”.
