First he decided to change the usual idea of the golden ticket in cds; now David Banner is launching his own line of throwback jerseys. Honoring the memory of Emmit Till (who name has been mention by such rappers as Kanye West and David Banner), Banner will be creating jerseys with the number 55 on it that signifies the year in which Till was murdered.
“I’m wearing a fifty-five on my chest for the year he got murdered”, Banner told Allhiphop. “Emmitt Till was a young man who got murdered for winking at a white lady. I’m trying to have everything in the store around summertime. It’s cold outside right now”. Till was kidnapped from his Uncle Moses Wright’s house, beaten and murdered in Mississippi on August 28th after allegedly whistling at Carolyn Bryant a white store owner. An all white jury in a record setting sixty-seven minutes acquitted the two men who committed the crime. Banner’s new cd “MTA2: Baptized In Dirty Water” hit stores yesterday.
