New York’s finest DJ crew is getting ready to release a star-studded follow-up to 1997’s X-Pressions.
The new album will be called Built from Scratch and will feature M.O.P., Pharoah Monch, Xzibit, Kool G. Rap and others, and will feature production from DJ Premier and Dan the Automator. The X-Men themselves will handle most of the production. The LP will drop September 25.
For those who may not be familiar with the crew formerly known as the X-Men, they are a four-member turntablist group made up of Roc Raida, Mista Sinista, Total Eclipse and Rob Swift. They have DJ’ed and produced for groups like The Beatnuts, Common, Artifacts and others, and some have dropped solo albums. X-Pressions was the first-ever LP from a turntablist band that wasn’t a mixtape. It featured vocals by E Bros and Pharoah Monch. The first LP was a five-star gem, so expect the new lineup to bring an album that’s just bananas.
